Vibrate Your Soul
CURATED | 01: A collection of inspirations, current favourites, and a playlist for May.
It feels like this year is passing in a whirlwind. The days seem to blend together, filled with work obligations and daily chores. While the year started in this way, I am choosing not to let it finish the same. My goal this month is to vibrate my soul, to do things that make me feel like I’m really living. To be present and notice the world around me. To enjoy an offline life filled with creativity and quiet moments. I’ve curated a few things that are inspiring me, so you can join in for the month if you, too, are feeling like the days are just passing by.
Listen:
This month’s playlist is filled with artists whose sound will vibrate your soul, the kind of songs that make you feel deeply. Think The National, Hozier, Lana Del Ray, War On Drugs, Rainbow Kitten Surprise and more.
Cook:

We tried this recipe for Sicilian Fennel Sausage Spaghetti by Anna Barnett recently. We couldn’t find the exact sausages mentioned in the recipe, so we used a local pork and leek sausage, and it was absolutely delicious and soul nourishing. Plus super quick and easy, making it the perfect weekday meal.
Watch:
I stumbled across this video by Lindsey Isla about how she went phone-free. At the beginning of this year, I deleted the Instagram and Facebook apps off my phone, and quite honestly my days feel so much lighter ever since I did. I loved Lindsey’s recommendations for going phone free and am excited to pick up the habit of the pocket notebook. Also her home is a dopamine hit for the senses and I love her film style.
Read:
I’ve discovered a few wonderful publications here on the platform that I make me feel positive and are encouraging me to live the life I have always dreamed of. Here are a few of my favourite articles recently.
Do:
I think one of the easiest ways to be present is to use your hands in some way. Whether it be writing with pen and paper, or cooking a meal at home, or doing handcrafts. There is something about being away from a screen that makes the passing of time more tangible. This month I am hoping to start a hobby again. Hannah Bay of Midnight Crumbs, has a wonderful list of low-entry hobbies that are perfect for every month of the year, you are sure to find something that you'll love.
A hobby that I would like to pick up again is letter writing. I’m a 90s kid and we used to communicate to our friends by passing notes to each other during and after class. I used to love decorating my notes. In this age of the email and text message I think there is something so meaningful about sitting down to write and send a physical letter. A creator I have been following for many years, Vienda of Her Way Club, has just started a pen pal community over on her website. I cannot wait to start writing to someone. I will also be adding myself on to the list of pen pals, should you wish to write to me.

Move:
I’ve been a huge fan of Adriene and her Youtube channel Yoga with Adriene for a long time. Whenever my brain feels like a scramble, I go onto her channel and find a practice that helps me feel settled. One of my all time favourites is this one and you literally cannot do the last move without it bringing a smile to your face.
Things to try this month:
Plant something. We live in an apartment but recently we started bring more plants into our home and honestly the affect they have on our mood is massive. Not only that but the quality of the air in our home feels lighter. We also planted some teeny tiny chamomile plants in the patch of land at our back door last year. They didn’t survive the transplant so well and I thought that they were gone forever. This spring they reappeared and have multiplied exponentially. It’s such a joy to see their little yellow faces.

Present Touch. Actively notice how things feel when you touch them. This may sound a little woo woo but I feel like it really helps me feel grounded in the moment and present in my actions. As an example, this morning I made myself coffee and poured water into a favourite glass, as I picked up the glass I actively noticed and felt the ridges of the pattern in the glass or the feel of the porcelain coffee spoon as I scooped coffee grounds into the pot. These small acts of noticing made something that is pretty routine feel a little more special.
I would love to hear what things you do to vibrate your soul or if there is anything from this month’s CURATED post you’d like to try.
